Despite the many tub toys that our household has aquired- I still seem to have a hard time getting my kids in the tub. So I was delighted when I found this awesome bath paint recipe on Pinterest! Making the paints was quite simple and is an activity on it's own; as the children had a blast helping with the measuring, mixing and making of the colours! Although, I must warn you guys- due to the use of food colouring, it can stain your kid's skin, so don't use close to family photos or special events!
Activity is good for ages: 12 months-12 years Supports the Progression of: Sensory Learning-Through Water Play, Finger Painting, Using a brush, Painting on skin, stirring and mixing. Fine Motor Skills- dexterity through measuring, mixing, holding brush and painting. Imagative Play- Through creating. Visual Perception-Learning how to mix colours. Ocular Motor- Transfering thoughts to visuals. Social Skills- Following a recipe and directions, taking turns, sharing paints and trading tools. | Educational loses a cupcake due to the lack of structure but over all can be as educational as you make it. Tidy loses a cupcake due to the use of food colouring and the potenial for mess during the making of the paint, but gets 5 cupcakes because the project is contained to the tub. Clean up loses a cupcake only because the food coloring stained a little spot on my babie's head..... so we are still cleaning that one up 3 days after the fact! lol |
